Being lonely is something that we all dislike and it’s very difficult as well. Everybody likes the company and our entire human race is built around the concept of society and togetherness. Society has kept the people together and we have been accustomed to being amidst the group of people in which everybody plays its part. But sometimes when we get away from our beloved family and friends because of different reasons i.e. studies, job etc. We start getting depressed.The lack of a dear one besides us makes us sad and our life melancholic. Loneliness can impacts us badly and it does if we don’t handle it properly.

I am 28 now and as far as I remember, I have spent most part of my life away from home. I was 5 when I first went to live in a hostel. Lack of a better school in our village forced my parents to put me in a hostel. They wanted me to get better education and it was the only viable option. I changed from school to college but one thing remained common, “I was away from home”, and my longing for home continued. It was difficult, I missed my family. I missed the bed time stories and grew without them.

Even now when I am writing this, I am a grown man and living 1500 miles away from my family because of my job. I feel very lonely at times and think about abandoning everything and running home, but it’s, ” KARMA”. I can’t run away from KARMA, I have to keep going, it’s the only thing I can control. In order to help myself in staying positive, I use these tools( LIFE HACKS) to make my life positive and meaningful. These tools have helped me in my journey of life and will be of immense help to anybody out there.

#1 :: YOGA and MEDITATION

YOGA

Meditation is a very important aspect of vedic way of life. Since time immemorial it has helped people to gain mental strength. Meditation helps us to stay focussed and positive and boost our health as well. It helps in weeding out the negativities and keeps our spirit up. When we stay alone, we often get surrounded with low self esteem, lower confidence and depression as we lack someone who could motivate us. The role of meditation in a lonely person’s life grows manifold, as it inculcates the habit of self motivation and positivity. The continued process of meditation for a long period of time, helps build a very strong concentration power and increases our success rate at the works that we do.Yoga keeps our body fit and prevents us from any sickness. A fit body is a doorway to a fit mind, and our time spent on yoga and exercise ensures that.

#2 :: READING

It’s a known fact that whatever we become in our life, depends a lot on what kind of surroundings we live in. Our readings, the choice of content that we watch, and the kind of people that we live among becomes a major factor in shaping up our minds. In today’s world when knowledge is a necessity and good friends are hard to come by, surrounding ourselves in the company of good books can’t be less than a blessing. Books not only give us knowledge but broadens our perspective as well. It motivates us, imparts us with vast knowledge, tells us about life in some distant world and captivates us by telling us about many discoveries that unravelled the mysteries around them. So, when we are alone, we can find company in books and enhance our knowledge and personality.

#3 :: WRITING

WRITING

The best of the writings have come out from the thick mist of loneliness and adversities. If you survey most of the brilliant writers, one thing that we find in common is that they were alone and met with some tragedy. In their loneliness they found their solace in writing. The loneliness gave them the time to put their pain, sorrows, brilliant ideas, greatest inventions on paper and changed the world for good. We all have some stories to tell, ideas to share with the world and being alone is the best time to focus and bring them out. Writing always helps us in relieving our pain and reliving the best memories of our life. It helps us tell the stories that we think matter without any boundations and helps us bring out our voices without the fear of being judged instantly.

#4 :: DEVELOPMENT OF SKILLS

We all live in a very competitive world and having good skill sets is very vital in staying ahead of the crowd. Acquiring skills take time and devotion and for that we need concentration, which is hard to come by in our busy lives. Most of us shoulders a lot of responsibilities which makes it difficult to take out time for something else besides our daily routine life. Being alone provides us that opportunity to focus on acquiring skills. When we are alone we often waste our time feeling low and bored, but being productive can help us immensely.When we are alone, we are away from most of the distractions which give us time to focus and channelise our energy in one direction and thereby gives us higher concentration. So, being alone is the best time to be creative and acquire those new skill sets and keep ourselves ahead in this competitive world.
