You must be thinking that it’s insane. How can satisfaction be deadly? We have been taught for generations to be satisfied and this person is telling us not to be. He must have lost his mind or it’s just a cheap trick to attract the readers. How can the centuries-old virtue of SATISFACTION be bad? From our parents to our religious text, all teach us to be satisfied as it gives peace of mind. However, I think every story has two aspects and till now we have just talked or heard about the negative aspects of it. I am an OPTIMIST and I look for positivity in everything.

Well, to be honest, that was my first reaction too, when the idea of this topic came to my mind but then I asked myself, why does it have to be bad only?  SATISFACTION is good if it doesn’t turn into greed and if it doesn’t harm others. However, have you ever wondered how HUMAN progressed so much and reached so far? When we talk about being satisfied, aren’t we going against the basic fundamental logic of never-ending CURIOSITY that has brought us all here? Humans have never been satisfied and have been looking for new things to satisfy their curiosity and keep going to something new again. Had the primitive men been satisfied with hunting and living like animals, we wouldn’t have been where we are now. Their curiosity and not being content with what was available for them forced primitives to look for things that will better their lives. They discovered the wheel which transformed their lives. It shortened the distance and improved their capacity to move heavy things with ease. They discovered fire and they didn’t have to eat things raw anymore. Fire helped primitives in keeping wild animals away and staying safe at night.

Everybody will agree that not being satisfied is not good but on the flip side being satisfied also hampers our growth sometimes. When we get satisfied with something that we have or possess, we stop looking for something more or better than something that we have. Being satisfied kills our hunger to GROW or IMPROVE and stagnates us. It closes the doorways to GROWTH and betterment. Why do we need anything more? Why should we get a promotion? Why should we study more? Why should we work?? There are so many questions and the answer to that lies in the EVOLUTION or growth of humans.

Since the primitives to every one of us, one thing is common and that’s curiosity. When we are not satisfied we become curious and look for answers. Humans, being unsatisfied with something, look for PERFECTION which leads to newer discoveries. Every day we see technology change, Why do you think that happens? Because we are not satisfied with something that we have and always STRIVE to make it better. From wheels to cars running at 300+ km/h, from traveling on foot to the race for space travel and from the time of letters to skype and google meet, our dissatisfaction induced curiosity has made us more efficient, brought us much closer, and open the doors to the unchartered territory for masses- SPACE TRAVEL. Every day a new startup pops up, catering to the multi-faceted needs and demands of people. It has all happened because we are not satisfied with what we have at our hands. The entire human race is considered the greatest among all the living species. Our curiosity and our hunger to satisfy our unsatisfied minds push us to find out the unknown. This is something that makes us human.

Can you imagine what might have happened had we been content with whatever we had? The world we see today might have been different and humans might never have progressed from PRIMITIVES to the MODERN ones. The world population is booming and with so many people to compete with, we need to excel at everything that we do. We can’t be satisfied with what we have or what we know, as nothing is permanent. In the modern era of cut-throat competition if we do not improve ourselves we are gonna lose or be left way behind, while the rest of humanity marches ahead.

Are you still satisfied? I hope not, Because nothing is easy my friends. We need to thrive. We are the flag bearers of the future, it depends on us and we are going to decide how it shapes up. We have so many secrets to unravel about the UNIVERSE, we have to stay hungry. We can’t be satisfied, the same way NEWTON wasn’t. We are gonna ask questions just like NEWTON did and unraveled one of the biggest mysteries. The entire human race is thriving because we are HUNGRY for more and never satisfied.
